Application and Evaluation

The following documents must be submitted when applying to the program: a cover letter and curriculum vitae, as well as certificates of degrees and language skills (very good English, basic German), a thesis report from at least two professors or supervisors and, particularly, a preliminary research proposal consisting of a problem description, research question, proposed research methodology, work plan,and up-to-date literature references.
 
The decisive element of the application is the preliminary research proposal.
 
Application documents will be evaluated with regards to both the applicant‘s qualification for doctoral studies at the University of Bremen and how the proposed topic fits into the research spectrum of LogDynamics. Evaluation criteria:
  • Applicant's education (at least Master level) comparable to German university level
  • Research experience
  • List of publications
  • Scientific quality of the preliminary research proposal
  • Strategic integration of the applicant's preliminary research proposal into the research program of LogDynamics, into the supervisor's areas of interest, and into the team's research fields
  • Supervision capacity and expertise available in the IGS or in LogDynamics
  • Applicant's fluency in English
  • Financing options
